Will Olson almost lose his life after he began choking in front of his friend who thought he was joking around.

According to Ian Brown, “We couldn’t tell if Will was choking or if he was just laughing and coughing at the same time.”

However, Brown realized that something is not right and he’s really choking and immediately performed Heimlich maneuver to save his life.

He said, “Eventually the redness in his face and his hand motions to his neck make us realize that something’s not right. I felt I was just doing what I was trained to do.”

Lucky for Olson, Ian Brown was a member of their police explorer program of The La Crosse Police Department where he learns how to perform the Heimlich maneuver as part of his training.

The Heimlich maneuver has been credited with saving more than 100,000 lives since the technique was created in 1974.

The video has gained more than 800,000 views and The La Crosse Police Department issued a statement applauding Brown’s action as a member of their police explorer program.
