What if you bought a piece of meat on the market then suddenly, it began to move like it was alive, what will you do? I’m sure you’re going to freak out, just like what happened to a Chinese woman from Shandong Province, who bought a chunk of beef meat on the market and out of nowhere it crazily moves as if it was alive!

Ms. Cheng was about to the cut the raw steak when she noticed a strange movements that horrified her.

She bought the slab of meat at around 8am and then cut it at 9am but she’s not aware of the time the beef is butchered.

Even though it’s been an hour since she bought the meat it appears to be pulsating, like it was still alive with a heartbeat.

Some suggested the zombie steak was infested with maggots which give it a pulsating effect.

“It looks like it is still alive or that there are worms or something inside. However when I cut it open I didn’t find any worms, just twitching,” said Ms. Cheng.

According to Lv Suwen, an expert at the local animal health department said: “The spasms were caused by nerve endings that had not died yet.”

“You can rest assured, this piece of meat is very fresh and is from a freshly slaughtered animal. The central nervous system is dead but the nerve endings in the muscles are still firing resulting in the jumping, because the nerves are not yet dead. This will stop after a short time.”

“From my many years of experience, I have never encountered this type of tampering. Using medicine or other means to make muscles twitch is unnecessary.” she added.

Watch the freaking video

The video of the pulsating meat has garnered more than 11 million clicks since it was uploaded last Friday on Weibo, the Twitter version of China. Some user said that the pulsating was a sign of “freshness.” Somehow, some social media users are considering turning vegetarian after watching the spine-chilling footage.

Facebook user Jake Ganymede even said: “I am turning into an vegetarian after this.”

However, the animal health department officials ensure the public that the meat is safe to eat.
