A newborn baby In India, believed to be abandoned by parents, was found covered and eaten by ants in a trash bin.

According to the authorities in Bhopal, India, Dheeraj Rathore a local businessman was the one who discovered the infant in a dumpster.

Rathore said, “I was passing by the bin when I heard the cries of a baby. I was shocked to see an infant’s head sticking out of a red polybag in a garbage vat among the bushes. Ants were all over her head and body.”

The baby was still alive but in bad condition. With the help of other locals, Rathore was able to clean off the poor baby while they all waited for the police to arrive.

The baby girl was brought to the hospital and was examined. She was reportedly underweight, weighing only 3.5 pounds and in critical condition.

Doctors also discovered that the newborn had bruises all over the body, suggesting that her parents physically abused her.

The police are already investigating who the parents are and their whereabouts.

Apparently, this is not the first case that a baby has been abandoned in India. In the past few years, there are numerous reports of infants being abandoned by their parents, especially newborn girls.

It seems that the discrimination against girls in India has become rampant that according to experts, that there are at least millions of missing Indian girls with some of them are victims of sex-selection abortions, and others undertook infanticide.

Even the doctors are prohibited from announcing to the parents the gender of their unborn child trying to stop this discrimination, but still, it continues in an alarming manner.

On the other hand, the discrimination is said to be culturally linked, where women are viewed as financial burdens. Indian women are obliged to pay for dowries and must perform other practices when getting married.
