Aliens! Aliens! You’d think that aliens had landed on the North Pole by looking at these crazy pictures. These ice circles looks like alien marks from those movies, but not really. These incredible huge spirals are rare pieces of art. Created by artist Jim Denevan in 2010 at the frozen surface of Lake Baikal in Siberia, Russia.

Having the goal of creating the world’s largest work of art, Jim Denevan and his crew managed to inscribe beautiful patterns by carving into the fresh snow on the frozen lake. Lake Baikal is considered to be the largest in the world and it also happened to be the choice of Denevan where the artist decided to create the biggest artwork on the planet.

The spiral of circles, along a Fibonacci curve, grow from an origin of 18″ to several miles in diameter. In order to finish the world’s largest work of art, incredible dedication must be put into, conquering the harsh weather conditions, including cold temperatures and strong winds.

The beautiful outcome of their handwork can be viewed below.
