Nowadays, people will do anything to have a perfect selfie in exchange for likes and shares.

Some even take extreme measures just to achieve one, such as this Indian man who almost lost his life after taking a stupid selfie.

The man identified as Siva, 22, was hit by a train while dangerously posing for a selfie in South Indian city of Hyderabad.

In the footage filmed by Siva, he can be seen standing very close to the tracks, as the train approaches him.

A voice can be heard in the background warning him that he is too close to the track.

But Siva ignores the warning and simply replies “wait” as he gets ready to take his precious selfie. The train then blares its siren loudly in warning.

And disaster strikes! Being too close to the track, he was hit by the side part of the train!

As the train hits him, the image goes blank, but the phone continues to record the audio catching the commotion that followed.

Siva collapsed to the ground bleeding. He was rushed to a hospital by his friends who had accompanied him. He is undergoing treatment at a private hospital for serious injuries on his head and hands. Luckily, he is now in a stable condition.

According to reports, his friends said Siva wanted to touch the train as it passed. The police said that more than the train, it was the force of the wind which knocked him down.

Secunderabad Railway Police Superintendent Ashok said his staff noticed Siva’s stunt and had asked him to move away but did not listen.

Siva is now facing trespassing charges.
