Recently a story of a dog who saved his family from 4 deadly cobras went viral online. Sadly, another dog gave his life to protect a trapped baby from a burning house.
Eight-month old Viviana Claire Poremski got trapped in their burning home in Baltimore.
Her mother Erika Poremski almost got trapped as well but she managed to get out to fetch something from her car.
She said, “I just heard her crying and I couldn’t get to her. I tried really hard, everyone in the neighborhood tried. They were kicking the doors in and kicking the windows out. I couldn’t [get her out]. Nobody could.”
As she was trying to fight her way back in the house Erika’s hands and face were burned. But she failed to get Viviana as the fire became stronger.
Fortunately, firemen came to rescue the baby girl who was trapped in the bedroom.
But when they came in, they were surprised to see the family dog Polo lying on top of Viviana, protecting her from the flames!
Because of Polo’s heroic deed, only one side of the baby’s body was burned. Though Viviana still suffered second-degree burns in 20% of her body and is still in critical condition.
Sadly, Polo didn’t survive the ordeal.
Erika said, “[Polo] stayed with her the whole time in the bedroom and wouldn’t even come downstairs to get out the door. He was my first baby and now I lost him. And I’m just praying I don’t lose her. She’s all I have and it just happened so fast, I just don’t understand it. I just don’t know why this stuff happens.”
Here’s the report:
Dogs not only provide companionship to its owners. Sometimes, they pay the ultimate sacrifice to save a life. This just shows that oftentimes dogs are more loyal and caring than any other pet or humans.
