The assault instantly kills one female baboon, however, the female baboon wasn’t alone: her tiny baby was still clinging to her body.
The baby baboon tried to escape as quickly as he can and attempt to climb a tree but he was too small and weak.
The lioness shifted her attention to the baby and the photographers witnessing the spectacular incident immediately feared the worst.
Amazingly, the lioness did not devour the young monkey but instead she gently and curiously approached him and soon they began playfully interacting with one another.
Remarkably, the lioness mother instinct kicks in and gradually picked him up in her mouth and carried him away.
Some instances, the two were cuddling it seems the baby monkey have taken the lioness as its new mother.
She even protected the primate from the male lion.
While the lioness is busy fending off the lion, the baboon’s father was sitting in a tree nearby and took opportunity of the lion’s distraction to scooped up his baby, and climbed back up to safety.
The amazing and extraordinary scene was capture by the wildlife photographers from the lioness’ gentleness towards the baby baboon, to the brave father who comes down to heroically rescue him at the end was undeniably heart-melting.
