Normally when we ask for Photoshop help online, it doesn’t end up pretty well as internet trolls flooded the web. However, the artistic playfulness of these people has their own limits. In fact, they can also respond and give you the most solemn digital altering that you’ll ever see. And this is what a grieving father was thankful for.
Nathen Steffel, from Ohio, is grieving after his newborn daughter passed away after a long battle in the children’s hospital.
But he had one request that he made on Reddit, he asks them to Photoshop and free her daughter from the machine surrounding her.
He wrote: “My daughter recently passed away after a long battle in the children’s hospital. Since she was in the hospital her whole life, we never were able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes from this photo?”
Nathen’s request was fulfilled with an overflowing response while others submitted their beautiful digitally altered photos.
This one is lovingly retouched photo of baby Sophia.
Some also send sketches of the baby.
Nathen was overwhelmed with these gifts from Reddit people. He told Today, “I didn’t really want all the publicity, I just wanted a picture,” He also wrote in an email. “What I received was a whole lot of love and support from complete strangers.”
Sophia was born on May 30, 2014, and had only a brief life of six weeks. She succumbs due to complications from a hepatic hemangioma, a liver tumor.
Nathen and his wife knew that their baby had a problem after the first ultrasound but they didn’t know how seriously ill their daughter was.
Sophia spent part of her life at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus after being born before being transferred to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center which had more liver surgeons and expert to take care of her.
Sadly, she was on a waiting list for a liver when Sophia passed away last July 10, 2014. Nathan’s story moved and touched many Reddit users and tried to help the heartbroken dad.
“I couldn’t sleep without at least trying,” one wrote. “Wow, I’m going hug my newborn now,” another added.
And the most heart-melting moment is when Nathen showed some of the retouched photos to his wife, she can’t help but burst into tears.
He told Today Parent: “I was overwhelmed with the response I got. My wife and I were so grateful so many people took the time out of their own lives to either send a nice message of sympathy or an awesome drawing. They couldn’t have made this father any happier.”
